Concise Description
The Python Package for data analysis of the GST/FISS instrument: reading, calibrating, aligning, inverting and visualizing Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph imaging-spectroscopy data.
Description
The Python Package for data analysis of the GST/FISS instrument. FISSpy reads, calibrates, aligns, analyses and visualizes data from the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS), the dual-band imaging spectrograph on the 1.6 m Goode Solar Telescope at Big Bear Solar Observatory, recording Hα and Ca II 8542 Å spectrograms simultaneously. It reads the whole FISS product chain as spectral cubes with FITS headers, runs the instrument's calibration pipeline from raw frames to archived products, co-aligns the two camera bands and long time series, and measures Doppler velocities, atmospheric parameters by spectral inversion, and oscillations and horizontal flows. Visualization includes interactive raster, spectrogram and profile viewers, montages and movie export. It assumes FISS-convention FITS data and is an instrument-specific toolkit rather than a general-purpose solar data framework.
