Concise Description
XRTpy is an open-source Python package for analyzing solar X-ray data from the Hinode X-Ray Telescope, providing modern, reproducible tools for instrument modeling and coronal diagnostics.
Description
XRTpy is a modern, open-source Python package for working with data from the X-Ray Telescope (XRT) aboard the Hinode spacecraft - that observes the Sun’s atmosphere from the photosphere to the corona. The package provides a complete set of tools for modeling the XRT instrument, computing effective areas and temperature responses, calibrating images, correcting instrumental effects such as light leaks, and improving image quality. It enables scientists to estimate key physical properties of the solar corona and to analyze XRT observations within a reproducible, Python-based workflow that integrates naturally with the broader heliophysics software ecosystem. XRTpy is designed to replace and modernize legacy IDL routines, making advanced XRT data analysis more accessible and easier to maintain for the community.
